Youve Got Hate Mail is the first book in the new Accidentally Infamous series and follows Cricket, at her lowest point, and Heath, a single dad still trying to recover from losing his wife and the hate generated by others online.
About Youve Got Hate Mail
Cricket is the black sheep of her family. Nothing she does is good enough. She is always being compared to her sister. Why is she not more like her sister? She has made her life doing what she wants, even though her family is not happy about it.
Heath is a single dad and widower. His wife passed away from cancer a few years ago. He is a girl dad to the core. He has had to fight hard to retain custody of his daughter. His in laws tried to take her away from him after their daughter, his wife, passed away. He used to be a EMT, but now works as a handyman. He left everything behind to take care of his wife as she was dying.
Cricket and Heath meet in a comedy of errors. He is not aware anyone is staying in the garden suite when he enters it to fix the toilet. She is freaking out while attempting to take a shower, after what sent her to the resort to recover. After a battle with a fist and a shower curtain, these two are officially introduced.
The chemistry between Cricket and Heath is instantaneous. He feels it, but does not want to. But the more time they spend together, the more the chemistry flares between them. It is just a matter of time before they combust.
But with a six year old daughter, and her cat, Heath has to tread lightly. Enter Cricket’s babysitting services. And another comedy of errors, when she decides to make breakfast.
When they find out the resort is in financial trouble, everyone starts brainstorming ways to turn things around. We finally see Cricket find her calling. She is great with the gardens and has a flair for making them beautiful.
Impressions
I have so much to say about this book, but I will not spoil the story for you. So let me just say that this story is funny and filled with emotions. I truly enjoyed all of the interactions in this story, even the not so fun ones.
I am not sure if Aunt Pip is really hard of hearing or if she is just playing everyone. There were times I questioned it. She is a hoot and I cannot wait to get more of her in future stories.
Even though Cricket and Heath were the main characters in this story, I truly believe the cat was the true main character. He managed to insert himself into every scene some way, some how. More shenanigans are surely to come in future books.
Enjoy this book and be prepared to laugh out loud. It is surely to be a book for the ages.
Narration
This book has quite a crew to narrate it. Samantha Brentmoor is always a dream to listen to. Stella Hunter brings it all to the studio when she performs. Gregory Salinas, as the lone male at the resort, brings Heath to life. Krystina Zaharek is new to me but I enjoyed listening to her and hope to see more of her in future books.
