About Pucking Forbidden

Josie is an only child with a super loving mother who taught her to be strong and to fight for what she believes in. She has been in a relationship with Marcus Kane, her mother’s boss’s son, for years now. She started running years ago after watching her idol run. She works out hard everyday hoping that one day she will run like her idol and look and feel free.

Waylon grew up with an abusive father and a loving mother. As he got older, he was the one standing between his father and mother, protecting her from him. She finally got them out of that situation and went back to school to become a doctor. Waylon has been playing hockey since he was a child in local youth leagues that did not require a lot of money to play. Just money for the equipment, which his mother did everything she could to pay for so he could play.

Marcus grew up with privilege. He played youth league hockey. He always had new equipment. He never wanted for anything. When he wanted a girlfriend, he started dating Josie. He got into Loveland to play hockey and now is looking at going pro and being drafted once he graduates.

Two years ago, Josie lost her track scholarship at the last minute. She was forced to change gears and go to a community college. She spent those two years working hard on her studies, while continuing to run. Her hard work paid off and she received an academic scholarship to Loveland.

Josie did not tell Marcus she received a scholarship to Loveland. Instead she moved in to campus housing and planned to surprise him the next evening. She got all dressed up to attend a party at the Kappa Nu house, where the hockey players all lived, and arrived at the house with her neighbors, Kimmy and Lena, who is dating hockey player Trace.

But Josie is surprised when she walks into the house and finds Marcus with his arm around a blonde. And boy is he surprised to see her.

Marcus rushes her out the door, not so gently, to the back porch. Not only is he surprised, he is not happy about Josie being there. But wait. Maybe there is a bright side to her being on campus. He now has a doting girlfriend, while still living the campus life.

But Josie is also surprised to see someone else at the house. She calls him Thor and he calls her Flash, but they have no idea who the other really is. They have a connection. Until Marcus introduces her to the entire house as his girlfriend. She is off limits. She is his teammate’s girlfriend.

Sadly, that did not stop either of them. Waylon, or Thor, and Josie, as Flash, would run every morning early. Since tryouts were coming up for the track team, Josie needed to run the big hill regularly as fast as she could. It improved her time and also built up her endurance.

When Josie arrives at her campus job of tutoring, she is surprised to see Waylon there. He is also a tutor. These two keep running into each other wherever they go. It is kismet.

But things start to happen between Josie and Waylon and Marcus starts to notice. And he is not having it.

Will Josie ever be free of Marcus? Will she and Waylon ever get their chance? Will she lose another scholarship? Will she ever get her life back?

Impressions

Waylon is a protector through and through. He thinks that is his job. He does not see that Josie can stand up for herself and protect herself. It takes talking to his mom to see what he is doing and how it is hurting her. By the way, I love his mom. She is top notch. Raising him on her own with an abusive husband. Becoming a doctor against the odds. You go girl!!!

Josie is tough as nails. She has never had anyone take care of her the way Waylon does. He remembers things she mentions in passing and then follows through. Marcus cannot even remember the plans he makes with her. She deserves so much better than him.

Marcus has issues. Control, anger, jealousy and a sense of entitlement. He uses the power of his father’s name to get what he wants. But his issues will come back to haunt him and Daddy Kane will not be able to protect him, nor does he want to.

I loved the final scene with Marcus when Daddy Kane came barreling in to remove him from campus. He was livid. There was not mistaking the anger rolling off of him at his son. It was good to see he did not condone what Marcus did to everyone involved. And his final words to Josie showed he has morals and will make amends for his son’s wrongdoings.

About Nana Malone

Author Nana Malone

Wall Street Journal & USA Today Bestselling author, Nana Malone writes Sexy Feel-Good Romance and loves all things romance and adventure.

That love started with a tattered romantic suspense she “borrowed” from her cousin. It was a sultry summer afternoon in Ghana, and Nana was a precocious thirteen year old. She’s been in love with kick butt heroines ever since. With her overactive imagination, and channeling her inner Buffy, it was only a matter a time before she started creating her own characters.
