Mac Meyers Needs Me is book 2 in the Tilton University series and follows Fee as she falls for Mac, Tilton hockey defenseman.

About Mac Meyers Needs Me
Fee grew up in a loving family. She has an older half sister, Lexi, who works for the Toronto Terror hockey team and a younger sister, Callie, who loves all things hockey. When Fee and Callie lost their parents, Lexi became their guardian. They were uprooted and moved to Toronto for Fee’s senior year in high school. She acted out and got in trouble, but Roman, who was quietly dating Lexi, helped with the emotions that were going through the family. Fee found a group of women to hang out with in the Terror family.
Mac is an only child and grew up in a dysfunctional family. His parents would fight and then shut down. They would go days without speaking to each other. He learned young to take care of himself. But his parents’ behavior also made him into a people pleaser. He keeps his distance from his friends and avoids any form of confrontation or conflict.
Mac is a hockey player for Tilton University. He has been struggling this year with his numbers and has been putting in extra time on the ice to work out the issues he has been having. He is afraid that his performance could impact his ability to get into the hockey academy for the summer and get drafter after he graduates.
Fee is an art student at Tilton University. She is a junior and working on a lot of projects this semester. Art is something that only she shared with her mom. It is deeply personal to her and is a labor of love. But since her parents were killed, she has never entered any of her art in a show or competition. She feels that it is the one thing she and her mom would do together and she is not sure if she can handle doing it alone.
Mac and Fee are in the same friends group at college. Her friend, Cammie, is dating and living with his friend and teammate, Chase. The group tends to eat meals together, attend parties together and support each other’s events, including the hockey games and Tally’s dance performances. So they are constantly together.
With the upcoming hockey gala, Mac is constantly being hit on by all of the college girls about being his date. His standard response is “I’ll keep you in mind”. Fee has finally had enough of it and claims to be his girlfriend. Let the dirty looks and snarky comments begin.
Mac is all too eager to be Fee’s fake boyfriend. He has wanted to ask her out since he first saw her. He is hoping eventually it will transition into a real relationship. But he has no idea what is in store for him.
Fee is stunned at what she said. But she stands by it and agrees to be Mac’s fake girlfriend. The spend time getting to know each other. When she sees him heading off to a strange area of campus for him, she follows. What she finds is a frustrated Mac trying to work out some of his techniques without bothering his teammates. Fee watches him without him knowing until she can no longer stay quiet. But what she does say becomes invaluable to him.
But Fee does not stop at that. She introduces Mac to Lexi and Roman at one of Callie’s games. He is awestruck meeting Roman, but when he meets Connor Grace his mind is blown. He cannot believe members of the Toronto Terror are watching a kids hockey game. But what he will come to learn is that they are all one big family.
So when Roman, Connor and Quinn Marlowe attend one of Tilton’s games, he is stunned. Mac knows what Fee told him, but he never expected for them to watch him play. And to speak to scouts who are also attending the game. This is blowing his mind.
Everything is going great and the fake relationship is now a real one. But Mac is keeping secrets and he does not even realize it. When Fee finds out will this be the end of them? When she asks for space and some time, will Mac honor her wishes and maybe wait too long? Or will he not respect her wishes and smother her? Will either option be the correct one?
Impressions
Mac and Fee have both loved each other since forever. But neither one asked the other out. So this fake relationship is the most opportune time for them to date. But everyone around them knows it is not fake, even if they are denying it
I loved that when Mac and Fee had THE talk, she was honest with him. She told him had done it once, but for the wrong reasons. And Mac was honest with her when he told her he was a virgin. It was fun to watch these two grow and explore with each other.
Mac is the type of person who does not want to tell anyone no. Because of the way he grew up, he deflects without hurting anyone’s feelings. But he never commits to anything with anyone. It is one of the things he and Fee talk about while getting to know each other.
Fee is afraid of enjoying her art and showing it off publicly since her mother’s death. It was a special bond they had, so when Mac suggests she enter the art show, she is hesitant. They talk about it and why it is so hard for her.
Fee and Mac talk more and communicate better than so many adults today do. With the exception of the one surprise, these two are like a long time married couple.
Narration
Alex Kydd playing Mac, and the other hockey players, was a joy to listen to. He got the voice of a college boy down pat making it easy to visualize everything going on. Kat Auden was such a perfect choice for Fee. A little whimsy, but a lot of maturity.
