Alex is the sixth, and final, book in the Ghost Ops series and follows fearless leader Alex “Ghost” Bishop as he falls for FBI Agent Diana Corbin while on an off the books mission.
About Alex
Alex has a storied history. When he was nine, his father moved the family to Alaska. He had no idea at such a young age what was in store for him or what his father had planned. His mother passed away when he was 14 and a year later a nice older couple adopted him. They helped him catch up on school work, which he excelled at. He was able to get in to West Point and then he made the Army his career.
Diana Corbin nee Adler was born with a silver spoon in her mouth, or so everyone thinks. Little do they know that although she was born into money, that does not mean she was born into love and nurturing. Growing up she was never cuddled or hugged, except by the nanny/housekeeper. She knew what was expected of her and she did it willingly until one night changed her entire life. A night she has never told anyone about.
When Diana first entered the scene, back in Blaze, book 1, she was not a welcome sight. She still is not overly welcome by the men of One Shot Tactical. She has forced her way into their mission. Her and Alex butt heads constantly about her jurisdiction and methods. And they both hate when the other withholds information, leaving them in some precarious situations.
Throughout this series, the guys have used Diana for information and she has used them and their expertise for information as well. Although there is no love between any of them, they each gain something from the other.
But when Diana needs Alex, in more ways than one, he is there for her. Even if his guys are not happy about it.
Impressions
This book is bittersweet. It is the end of the series. Am I happy about that? Yes. But I am also sad about it. I have come to love these men and women. Will we see them again? Most likely. It seems no one ever really gets away from HOT.
I loved seeing General Mendez in this story. He has been missing in previous books in this series, so it was a reminder that he and Ghost respect each other and are more than military men. They are friends.
Diana’s story makes me sad, but also makes me believe. In what, you ask? Well everything. She was brought up in a well to do house but it was lacking love and touch. After what happened to her in college, her ability to move on and deal with the mental fallout is truly impressive. For her to go against her family wishes, somewhat change her name, and make her own way through the FBI is a testament to her strength and determination. This woman has survived things a woman should never have to face, let alone survive. So Diana, you make me want to be like you. Strong, determined, loved. You deserve it, no matter what anyone says.
