Westward is book 3 in the Ashford Creek series and follows Ashford family friend, and adopted brother, Atlas Carter, as he finds his second chance with the one that got away.

About Westward
Atlas grew up in a loving family. He is one of three children, with brother, Roone, and sister, Felicity (Legacy, Ashford Creek Book 1). He has played hockey since he was a kid, but it cost his family both time and money. His mom would have to drive him to the closest rink which was over an hour away. But she did it because she loved him. His high school sweetheart was an Ashford Creek girl named Lizzie. They had made plans together, but life has a way of interfering in best laid plans.
Elizabeth is a small town girl. She was born and raised in Ashford Creek and the only time she left was for college. In high school she fell in love with Atlas Carter but she knew he wanted more than what Ashford Creek could offer him. It broke her heart, but she let him go after college and returned home to teach local high schoolers.
When Lizzie and Atlas separated at the end of college, she never expected him to come back to Ashford Creek for any length of time. Quick visits to see family, but nothing long term. So when he shows up after being injured, she knows it is just a matter of time before they run into each other.
Things are cool between them, but the chemistry is still there and they both know it. Lizzie is doing everything to resist Atlas and he is doing everything to charm her. And we all know what happens in Ashford Creek, stays in Ashford Creek. NOT!
Small towns mean everyone knows everyone else’s business. But Atlas and Lizzie are trying to figure out how to make things work. She is a high school teacher and loves giving back to her town. He is a professional hockey team based in Portland. Long distance is not easy, but they both really want this so only time will tell if they can make it work.
Impressions
This story has a mystery to it. And I loved trying to figure out. I will say, I did not suspect the person who did it. So kudos to Ms Ryan for stumping me.
This is a second chance romance, where the chemistry is strong, but Lizzie does not want to watch Atlas walk away again. So she keeps her distance until she no longer can. A lot of emotions run between these two based on their history and events that occur during this story.
I have to admit that I want Atlas’s parents to adopt me too please. They are there for their kids, the Ashfords and Lizzie. And let us not forget the recently graduated young man that Atlas and Lizzie have taken under their wings. The love is strong and I do not see anything breaking it.
Narration
I have been loving listening to Samantha Brentmoor lately. I love her voice and her portrayal of the characters in the book. She is my favorite female narrator for this reason. It has been forever since I have listened to Gideon Frost and he did not disappoint. I loved him as Atlas. The voice, the character portrayal. Everything just fit.
