Sweet Distraction is the third, and final, book in the Backstage Pass series and follows Gavin “Rocket” Caldwell as he is thrust into a world he never expected to find himself in.

About Sweet Distraction
Growing up, Rocket never had a good role model of a loving, caring parent. Even though he is a rockstar, he always wrapped it up. He never wanted to be a husband or parent. He did not know how to be a good one. He found his way, and his family, when he met the guys of the band. That has been his life ever since.
Willow worked through college as a live in nanny to pay for tuition and books. After graduating, she went out to work as a teacher. Until she was let go from the school where she worked, through no fault of her own. She is now trying to figure out how to pay rent, utilities and groceries.
When Willow’s cousin, who works with Child Services, contacts her to be a full time nanny to a child who experienced a trauma leaving her with aftereffects, she agrees. When she finds out who the father of this little girl, she is stunned. But she has signed an Non-Disclosure Agreement, so she is unable to discuss anything with anyone.
Last night, was the final night of the band’s tour, so Rocket went out and had a really good time. So when someone is banging on his front door, he is not in the mood. But when his lawyer comes bearing some shocking news, Rocket sobers up instantly.
When Willow arrives at Rocket’s house with Poppy, she has no idea what to expect. Yes, he is her father, but he is a rockstar. Is he ready to be a full time, single parent?
Willow and Rocket are not off to a great start. He is avoiding any and all responsibility. She is taking care of Poppy, working with her residual trauma. She is trying to involve Rocket in everything, but he always backs away. Why?
Rocket does listen to Willow. When she tells him safety changes that need to be made for Poppy, he gets them done. When she needs to outfit the playroom, he does it. These are ways he knows how to show Poppy and Willow that he cares. That he listens. That he wants what is best for Poppy.
Rocket has a hard time communicating his fears and his love. He is an action type guy, not a words type guy. He shows his growing acceptance and love of Poppy by calling her Pop-star, teaching her music, dancing with her and letting her check out his tattoos.
But when a threat to Rocket keeping Poppy emerges, he will do anything to make sure she is put first. Even if that means giving her up. The fight will be brutal and demoralizing. It will cause Rocket to make a decision he never wanted to make and should not have had to make.
Impressions
There are so many emotions in this book. Shock, disbelief, disassociation, awe, love, devotion, devastation and so many more.
This little girl, Poppy, is the heart of this story. She will wrap Rocket around her little finger. She has lived through and witnessed the worst tragedy ever. She will need time and lots of love to get over it. But the first time she says da da to Rocket, your heart will melt.
Willow has her own issues to deal with. This job is just supposed to be temporary, but Rocket needs her to remain longer. As time goes on, it becomes more than a job. It becomes her life, her love. Rocket and Poppy have become her family. But the threat coming at them will test all of this. When the going gets tough, will Rocket run or stay the course?
Finally, I loved the little nicknames that Rocket gives both Willow and Poppy. Even though she did not like him calling her Wills at first, he kept on doing it and it stuck. It fit her. And calling Poppy his Pop-star was classic. It was a way for them to bond over music.
Narration
I loved the way Oliver Highpoint narrated Rocket’s character. He brought a unique voice to his character. I loved Shiloh James’s take on Willow. She is fun and flirty, but down to earth and grounded.

About K Bromberg

New York Times Bestselling author K. Bromberg writes contemporary romance novels that contain a mixture of sweet, emotional, a whole lot of sexy, and a little bit of real. She likes to write strong heroines and damaged heroes, who we love to hate but can’t help to love.
A mom of three, she plots her novels in between school runs, sports practices, and figuring out how to navigate parenting teenagers (send more wine!). More often than not, she does all of this with her laptop in tow, and her mind daydreaming of the current hero she is writing.
Since publishing her first book on a whim in 2013, Kristy has sold over two million copies of her books across twenty different countries and has landed on the New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal Bestsellers lists over thirty times.
