About Try Me
Gianna is Astrid’s spicy best friend. In Play Me, she threatened to taser Gray if he hurt Astrid. She has a sister, Lucia, who she loves dearly. Gianna is an artistic, creative person who is always trying new projects around her house. She can even be found dumpster diving to procure supplies for her projects.
Drake was drafted to play professional football right out of college. After years of playing and overcoming injuries, he finally retired and started a podcast. He is a devoted son and brother and is very much a family man, even though he does not have his own family, yet.
Both Drake and Gianna have podcasts with the same studio. Both podcasts are up for a lucrative new time slot. Both are single, unattached people. So when a dare is issued, they embark on a new relationship. Since the dare was issued on Gianna’s podcast, she will be the one updating everyone on her podcast and her socials. Let the games begin.
Gianna has always dated the type of man that she did not have to form a commitment with. She likes her freedom and is not ready to settle down. She has a plan mapped out and she is sticking to it.
Drake is ready to settle down and find The One. He is ready for a home. He is ready for the next step. And for some reason, he thinks Gianna is the person for him.
Drake sees what Gianna is doing. He sets the rules of their dare, which frustrates her. She is used to getting what she wants and he is not giving it to her.
When Drake receives a phone call from his mom, he and Gianna head out to his childhood home. This is the first time she has ever met a man’s parents. She is surprised at how much she enjoys speaking with his mom and giving her the break she needs.
Will this dare end the way either of them are planning? Which podcast will be selected for the new time slot? Will anyone walk away unscathed from either of these outcomes?
Impressions
I freaking love Gianna’s snarky, sassy, do not mess with me attitude. But seeing her vulnerable was a new side to her that she shows no one. She is a shoot first, ask questions later type of person, but sometimes she needs time to herself to digest and plan.
Drake is dealing with some personal issues, but he does not let it interfere with his job. He is a professional. So when Gianna makes a very difficult professional decision, he is there to support her.
I love these two together. The witty banter. The teasing. Drake calling Gianna out on her choice of men to date. These two are either an old married couple or siblings. You choose.
Narration
Tor Thom is always a favorite to listen to for me. It has been awhile since I have had him in my ears, so it was nice to hear him again. Raven Wildewood is a new to me narrator. I really enjoyed her voice and her take on Gianna. Plus the different voices for Astrid and Audrey.
