The Overtime Kiss is book 5 in the Love and Hockey series and follows Tyler as he adjusts to his trade to the Sea Dogs and keeping his thoughts off of his new nanny.

About The Overtime Kiss
Tyler is a hockey playing single dad. He and Elle, his ex, have an amicable divorce and custody agreement. Since he has recently been traded to the Sea Dogs, his mom has been helping him out with babysitting duties. While he is away, she hires a nanny for him.

Sabrina is supposed to be getting married. But at the last minute, she makes a change to the program that blows up in her face. She is now a runaway bride. Lucky for her, she meets Tyler at the bar she runs to. She has a few drinks and Tyler takes her back to his room. He is a perfect gentleman. But this girl has piqued his interest.
Sabrina is in desperate need for a job. When she walked out on her wedding, her father fired her and disowned her. Yes she still has her ice skating and figure skating coaching business but it does not support her. When she is approached by Tyler’s mom to become his nanny, her interest is piqued. When she finds out the salary, living accommodations and flexibility in hours, she agrees.

When Tyler finds out his mom hired Sabrina to be the nanny for his children, surprise is an understatement. He has been entranced with her since the day he saw her skate a program during a Sea Dogs game. Then he met her at the bar on the day of her wedding. Now she is his nanny. Are the Gods smiling down on him or punishing him?
Obviously, by replacing the previous nanny, Sabrina has some issues to overcome with the children, especially Parker. Luna already loves her since Sabrina is her figure skating coach, but Parker is missing the last nanny and acting out. When she sits down and talks to him, she realizes what the problem is and speaks with Tyler about it. Slowly, she wins Parker over. Not by trying to replace the nanny, but by being herself. She helps him understand fractions by using cut up food. She takes them to the Science Museum and makes a game out of learning. She is making education fun and rewarding.
Tyler sees how good she is with the kids, and he knows he needs to tamp down his feelings for her but he just can’t. When his core teammates, including his brother, get together with him, questions are asked until he realizes some truths he has been avoiding. They encourage him to do what needs to be done. But again, he does not want to mess up a good thing.
But when things start happening that cause her to realize she is only the nanny and should be acting like just a nanny, Tyler is confused. He does not understand why all of a sudden she is no longer eating with the family and she is only giving him short, concise answers to questions.
When he finally is able to speak with her about what is happening and why she is acting so professional all of a sudden he is stunned by her answer. He does not support her and her decision to distance herself and remain professional. He does not understand why she feels the way she does. Again, his core teammates come to the rescue and explain to him how badly he messed up.
Tyler comes up with this grand gesture to prove to Sabrina how he feels and what he wants. And boy is it an amazing grand gesture.
Impressions
Tyler is clueless at times and very perceptive at other times. His conversation with his teammates is an eye opener for him. Watching him act on the advice they have given him is truly an amazing adventure. He thinks of everything.
Sabrina has had a number of shocks over a short amount of time. It is no wonder she is backing away from something that seems like it is too good to be true. And we all know the old adage, if it looks too good to be true, do not trust it.
I found the opening scene to be hysterical. What a unique way for Sabrina to just walk away. And throw in the driver she becomes friends with. Girl posse.
Narration
The Overtime Kiss is yet another book in a ever growing list of Teddy Hamilton books I have listened to in the last couple of weeks. As always, he brings out all of the feels, both good and bad. Brooke Bloomingdale is a new to me narrator and I will just say I loved her. I am definitely looking forward to more books by her. She brought out Sabrina’s insecurities, as well as her fun side.
