About The Girlfriend Zone
Miles Falcon, also known as Prof, is a veteran hockey player. He had a season ending injury on his previous team, but the coach of the Sea Dogs saw something in him and picked him up in a trade. Miles is grateful to the coach for spending time with him and giving him a chance. He learned new techniques to improve his game.
Leighton is a photographer. She works in multiple genres, including boudoir, social media, and sports. She is not a coffee drinker, preferring tea. Oh yeah, and she is hearing disabled.
Leighton sees Miles on the street as he is lugging a life size woman to his grandmother’s coffee shop. She is on her way to the studio she uses for her boudoir photo shoots, after being stood up by her male model for her photo shoot that afternoon. She mentioned to Birdie, the owner of the coffee shop, what happened. Somehow, Miles got roped in to being the male model for this photo shoot. But then the woman who requested the shoot has to cancel. Ultimately, Miles and Leighton have their own phot0 shoot for fun.
But when Leighton finds out that Miles is a hockey player who plays for her dad, their one night of fun has to end. Miles agrees. She is off limits. The last thing he needs is to cross his coach by dating his daughter. He has done so much for Miles that he cannot risk it.
One year later, Leighton is now working temporarily for the Sea Dogs. She is shooting promotional photos for the team, as well as team photos and other shots. She and Miles keep things professional until her dad, and his coach, volunteers her to dog sit for Miles while the team is on a road trip.
So many rules are broken. But can these two keep things quiet? Both have friends who can see their chemistry. How long will it take before someone outs them? And how will coach/dad respond?
Impressions
I love seeing that Leighton has a hearing disability. I feel for her when she has difficulty during the pole dancing classes with the music being to loud. She does not want to say anything for fear of bringing attention to her disability.
Miles is so supportive of her, especially her feelings about her disability. He supports her and listens to her. He asks questions of how best to do things for her. He offers ideas and options for her difficulties. I really liked when he told her that his mom uses the flashlight app on her phone if a restaurant is too dark for her to read the menu. As someone who struggles with her vision, this is a common occurrence for me. It was nice to see someone give voice to it.
Narration
Samantha Brentmoor is my favorite female narrator and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to her. And who does not love listening to Jason Clarke. The man has swoony, smexy talk down. Definitely a keeper.
