As the first book in the Bluegrass Empires series, The Feud focuses on the Blackburn family. Let me just say WOW!!!! This book is full of surprises throughout the entire book.

About The Feud
When a lawyer shows up at the ranch to meet with Ethan, unexpectedly, the first bomb is dropped. Ethan has a child. With a Mardragon, no less. The two feuding families are now tethered together forever by a child.

Sylvie is frustrated and angry. She was brought to Kentucky by her mother, as her mother was dying of cancer. She never knew about her father and now she is forced by a judge to live with him for two months and to give him a chance. She is in a new country, with a father she does not know. No one will talk about her mother. And she is dealing with her grief with no one to talk to about it. This poor child needs someone on her side. Enter Marcie DeLeon.
Marcie is the principal of the school that Ethan Blackburn has enrolled Sylvie in. When he asks Marcie to help him with Sylvie, because she is basically insolent, she agrees to talk to her. She promises nothing to him as her loyalties lie with Sylvie. After an evening away from the Blackburns and Mardragons, Marcie gains insight into what the poor girl is going through. When she takes Sylvie home, she tells Ethan to talk to her. To listen to her.
Surprisingly, Ethan listens to Marcie and he and Sylvie give being family a real try. She becomes more amenable and he works to get her some things from France that she is missing; namely her dog.
When the feuding families are thrown together in business, as well, an agreement is made between Ethan and Gabe Mardragon. Sylvie loves Uncle Gabe, so Ethan will make nice and work with him on her behalf.
When Sylvie’s life is threatened, it is Gabe who comes to the rescue, and Gabe who calls Ethan to let him know what is going on. As the facts unfold, Gabe earns Ethan’s respect for doing something unimaginable.
Will Ethan and Gabe finally put an end to the family feud? Will they be able to come together for Sylvie? Only time will tell.
Narration
Sean Masters was a dream as Ethan. His voice is a little bit dreamy and a lot sexy. Kit Swann is always a pleasure to listen to. I enjoyed her paired with Sean in this book. Their voices worked very well together.
