The Boyfriend Goal is the first book in the new Love and Hockey series by Lauren Blakely.

About The Boyfriend Goal
Josie has just arrived in San Francisco from a long day of travel. She has moved herself from the East Coast to the West Coast for a three month contract at a library. She is staying with a friend for a couple of days until her rental is ready. Sadly, on her first night, she locks herself out of the apartment, in a nightshirt and without her phone.

When she walks in to a gallery, all she wants is to make a phone call to her friend to get a key to open the door. Unfortunately for her, the proprietor is not amenable. She is having a showing and does not want Josie there. In walks Wes. He is there to look at some art for his home, but, instead, rescues Josie, to Frieda’s chagrin.
Wes is a hockey player for the Sea Dogs. When he sees Josie, he just wants to help. Well his help turns in to so much more. When they part, he reads a note that she left for him. Since they only exchanged first names, he does not know how to contact her.
Josie’s luck continues to plummet when she receives a call about her rental. Unfortunately, the owner has sold the building and she no longer has a place to live. So, in her frustration, she goes to her brother, Christian, captain of the Sea Dogs.
So the next day, Christian goes to the rink, sleep deprived since he has newborn twins, and explains to his teammates the situation with his sister. Since Wes has an extra room beneath the staircase, he offers to let her move in. However, he does not know it is Josie since Christian refers to his sister as J.
Later that night, Josie is at the arena to meet her new roomie. But when Christian introduces them, they are both tongue tied. Never expecting to see each other again, this is a huge shock.
Josie moves in with Wes and he find out about “The List” that her aunt left her of things she needs to do in her life. Item number one has been accomplished. They decide to work through the list together. They experience some new adventures, overcoming fears, and challenges all while growing closer to each other.
They decide to throw the rommie rule book out the window one night and act on their mutual attraction.

What happens from here is sweet, funny, challenging and sad. Hockey slumps. Moving across the country for a three month contract. Reuniting with family and each other. So many emotions flow through this book.
Narration
It has been a while since I have listened to an Erin Mallon narration. I did not realize how much I have missed listening to her. Especially in duet with Connor Crais. Connor handles an alpha hockey player with issues so well. And Erin handles a “sweet” librarian with an overbearing brother beautifully.
