The Arrangement finally gives us Jason Brewer’s story, and does not disappoint.
About The Arrangement
Jason is the second of six Brewer children. His older brother, Gannon, has been molded into a younger version of their father, causing his focus to be on business more than anything. As such, Jason became the family protector. He knew at a young age that he did not want to follow in the family footsteps. He was always smart, strong and independent. This is apparent throughout The Arrangement, but even more so near the end when he meets with his father.
Chloe is an only child whose father walked out on them when she was younger. She lost her mother way too young and is now taking care of her elderly grandmother, aka Mimi. She grew up with the Brewers since her mother worked for the family as a housekeeper, when she was younger. So it is no surprise that when she needed a job, Jason hired her at his company, Brewer Air.
One night, during a brotherly get together, Tate bets Jason that in the next three years Jason will not get married and stay married for six months. The twists to this bet are that it is for $100,000 and the money is donated to the charity of the loser’s choice. Yeah, they are on the crazy side.
When Chloe hears about this bet, she blurts out to Tate that he is going to lose since she and Jason are getting married. Yeah, definitely a surprise to everyone, including Chloe. The caveat is that she gets half of the money since she needs to find a new place to live immediately. Although she does not want to admit it, she is barely floating above water with all of her bills and taking care of Mimi.
Off they go to Vegas to get married. Chloe is a little sad that Mimi is not there for her wedding, but she understands that travel is not easy for Mimi. As they are waiting at the chapel to get married, they receive a monster surprise that makes everyone’s day.
Once they are married, they head back to Renn’s penthouse, where they are staying, to enjoy the benefits of marriage.
These two have always kept things in the friend zone, even though they are both in love with the other. Both are afraid that getting in to a relationship will ruin their friendship if it does not work and they go their own ways. Chloe cannot afford to lose her job and Jason cannot afford to lose the woman who keeps him organized.
What they do not realize is how the other feels. This is just an arrangement to win a bet. So what will happen when a family confrontation occurs and then tragedy strikes?
I think I fell in love with Jason Brewer while reading The Arrangement. He is the man of every woman’s dreams. Protective of those he loves. Yet, he wants Chloe to experience some luxury since she has never had any.
I am in the middle of a book hangover, even as I keep thinking which Brewer brother will be next.
