About Shot at Love
Adam is Vaughn’s father. He came to Fort Lauderdale to reconnect with his son and build a relationship with him. Years ago, he sent his wife and son away to keep them safe from the Motorcycle Club he belonged to. He has regretted that decision every day since . That decision cost him his relationship with his son.
Maria is Juliet’s mother. She was widowed years ago when her husband had a heart attack. When Juliet and Vaughn started dating, she met Adam. He needed a job, so she gave him one. He needed a place to live so she rented him a room in her house.
Little did they know that they would fall in love. They are complete opposites and, yet, similar in so many ways.
They fly to Vegas to get married secretly. No one in their family know they are dating, let alone getting married. When her oldest son finds out, he is going to flip his lid.
Well, guess who is in Vegas the very next day? Yep, you guessed it. Maria and her son have a confrontation in front of the hotel that leads to her collapsing. She ends up in the hospital.
Maria and her son have a come to Jesus conversation that has been needed for years. He thinks Adam is after her money. But when she tells him that Adam suggested a prenup and signed one he quiets down. They discuss what happened when his father died and she tells him he needs to stop feeling guilty. She also tells him he needs to grow up and become responsible.
While they are having their conversation, Adam goes for a walk. And never comes back. He thinks he is doing the right thing, until he takes some time away from everyone to think. He avoids everyone, including his son, and does not answer phone calls or text messages. Finally, when he does talk to Vaughn, he is told not to make the same mistake he did before.
That seems to catch his attention. So what will happen now? Will he grovel and beg Maria to take him back? Will she want him back after he so callously left her in Vegas? Will her kids come to accept him in her life and their lives?

About Kat Mizera

USA Today Bestselling author Kat Mizera is a South Florida native. Born in Miami Beach with a healthy dose of wanderlust, she’s called Los Angeles, Long Island, upstate New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Atlanta home. She’s never been able to pick which locale is her favorite, but if pressed, she’d probably choose the west coast.
Kat’s a typical PTA mom with a wonderful and supportive husband (Kevin) and two amazing boys (Nick and Max). When she’s not writing, she’s either scrapbooking or indulging in her second love (after writing) – traveling. Greece is one of her favorite places in the world. She loves that Athens is a big city with a small-town feel. The food, beaches and culture keep her going back as often as possible. She hopes to retire there one day so she can spend her days writing books on the beach.
As you can guess from her series, the Las Vegas Sidewinders, Kat loves hockey. She is also a freelance hockey writer, covering her favorite team, the Florida Panthers, and any other teams that have an interesting story. The rest of the time, she writes novels: sexy, romantic fiction that she hopes makes you as happy as it makes her. There’s something enticing about hockey players and romance…
