About Shadows Protection
Shadow is the only son of a mother who tried to raise him right. Sadly, Shadow ended up on the wrong side of the law and paid for his crime. As Vice President of his motorcycle club, he spends a lot of time in the gray area between black and white.
Violet is a school librarian and has just come to the Tampa area to start a new job. She was raised by both of her parents and has a sister in college that she adores and who adores her. Having broken up with her ex six months ago, she is ready for a fresh start.
When Violet rolls in to town, she learns her condo rental is not ready for her to move in. To top it off, there is a hurricane rolling in and all of the hotels are full due to the storm. Lucky for her, Shadow is at the last motel when she arrives. Since it, too, is full, she is out of options.
Since Shadow rode his motorcycle to the motel thinking he would be back home before the storm hit, he offers Violet a place to stay for the night if she gives him a ride home. She is a nervous wreck due to the storm so Shadow drives them to his home. But what she finds when they arrive has her questioning her decision.
Later that night, Shadow and Violet play a game similar to 20 questions. He is such a gentleman with her even though he is in lust with her. She has never had a bad boy complex, but Shadow is checking all of her boxes.
The next morning, as the storm is still raging on, Shadow and Violet head downstairs to find some coffee. She gets recruited by the other girls to help make breakfast. She is surprised while talking with them. There is more to them than meets the eye. She is ashamed that she rushed to judgement.
When Violet leaves the compound, she gets a surprise phone call. She returns to Shadow and reads him the riot act, but he turns the tables on her. He cannot let her speak to him that way in front of his subordinates. So what happens next is a total shock to her system, But she likes it.
After letting off some of her steam, she tells him why she was so riled up. Next thing we know, he is yelling down for all hands on deck. What happens next will prove to be a blessing in disguise.
Over then next couple of days, Shadow and Violet enjoy their time together. She loves helping the girls cook for everyone and getting to know them better. But her time with him is coming to an end.
When her past shows up on the club’s doorstep, they are not surprised. Instead, they already have a plan in place. But will it blow up in their faces, or will they get the result they are hoping for?
Once the coast is clear, Violet leaves the compound for good. But it does not take long for her to realize, she is in love with Shadow and carrying a piece of him with her permanently.
Impressions
This book is such a dichotomy of worlds. Tough as nails Shadow and soft-hearted Violet. These two are meant to be together, but one of them has to make the first move. She brings out the best in him and he brings out the hidden desires in her.
Can a MC member really make it work with a layperson? If they really want to, then yes. Who cares about their history. Leave the past in the past and move on. You only get one life. Live it to the fullest. That is exactly what Violet and Shadow do.
