About Seven Year Itch

Calder is the middle child of the three Fletcher brothers that live on Fletcher mountain. And we all know about middle sibling syndrome. He feels like he is the screw up in the family. Yes he made mistakes growing up, but who has not? His brothers constantly give him the grunt work for their construction company since he usually does not have plans and will get it done.

Dakota is Cozy’s best friend. Cozy is married to the Fletcher oldest brother, Max, who is a successful businessman in Boulder and does not live or work with his brothers. She owns her own business making fun t-shirts and holds classes in her shop for kids and adults to design and make their own shirts and learn new techniques.

Seven years ago, Dakota hired Calder to remodel her house. That endeavor left her in tears and on a mad hunt to replace her ruined dress, three days before her wedding. She has hated him ever since. But the feeling was mutual since every time he needed a decision made about something in the house, she took forever and then would change her mind. So she became the devil in his eyes.

But even through all of that turmoil, someone is desperate to turn them in to a couple. So much so, that they decide to rewrite the profile information on Calder’s dating apps. And reading what was written is hilarious.

But suddenly Calder and Dakota seem to be running in to each other at interesting times and places. The first time was a complete fluke, but sadly was not kind to him. But is there more than one person conspiring to match Calder with Dakota, or vice versa? It appears so.

When they finally get together, it is supposed to be just for one night. But what happens in the palapa, stays in the palapa. Until it no longer does.

Impressions

One of the main things I really enjoyed about Dakota was her support for Calder and his furniture building. So much so that she helps him list a few items on her website and sells them for him. This is something he never thought to do, but it was his way of staying close to his dad. It was something he learned from his dad and they did together. She helped him make his love for his dad in to a business endeavor.

In addition, she listened to him about they way he felt working with his brothers and how he felt taken advantage of. She asked him thoughtful questions. And when it was necessary, she stood up to them for him.

Calder caught me off guard with some of the things he did seven years ago to the donut that Dakota married. And he never said a word. Yes, it may have hurt her to learn that he knew about some things, but when push came to shove, she found out things about Calder and his integrity in the process.

Narration

It has been a Teddy Hamilton and Erin Mallon month for me. I have listened to at least three books narrated by him and he never disappoints. Two of these books have been in duet and I love him in these. I am currently listening to my third audiobook narrated by Erin this month and again, it is a joy. I love her her voice and listening to her and Teddy in duet was such a pleasure.
