Sawyer is book 4 in the Stewarts of Skagway series and we get to revisit a classic, Wuthering Heights.

About Sawyer
Sawyer opens with him doing a double take thinking he saw his former lover, Ivy, walking down the street. But when he looks again, she is not there. So he thinks he just imagined it. Until he enters the market to pick up the groceries that gran sent him for.
Ivy has always come to Skagway for the summer, but has always left at the end of August to go back to Fairbanks. So why is she here now, in the off season?
Ivy came to Skagway to help her aunt and uncle with the girls while her aunt, Priscilla, goes through chemo. She made this choice against her father’s wishes and left her fiance behind in Juneau, knowing he had been unfaithful to her in the past.
On her way out of the market, she sees a sign, with a pull tab, on the bulletin board for auditions for the holiday play. This year it will be an adaptation of Wuthering Heights. She loves this story, so she grabs a pull tab.
Sawyer is watching as she leaves and sees her grab something off of the bulletin board. On his way out, he stops there and deduces what she was interested in. He decides to also go to the auditions. He thinks he can be a tree (see me laughing like a hyena). To prepare, he reads the book so he knows what the story is about.
At the auditions, Ivy and Sawyer are paired up to read for Cathy and Heathcliff. Their performance is so real, that they are immediately cast in those roles. Little does everyone know, the story of Heathcliff and Cathy closely mirrors their past.
Throughout rehearsals, fundraisers, and everyday life, Ivy and Sawyer get to know more about each other and what values they share. So when Ivy’s life blows sky high, Sawyer will be the one to put her back together. Yes, it will also take her aunt and uncle, but he is the one who knows her best.

Impressions
I must admit, I despise Ivy’s father. How she turned out so good and loving is amazing considering how she was raised. I also fell in love with her aunt and uncle. Without them, and their love every summer, I am not sure she would have turned out so loving. I really hope karma bites her father in his rich man’s booty.
