About Pinch
Haddy is the only child of Hendrix and Raven Bradford. She is a pageant queen, but she is also a scientist. She is finishing her master’s degree and focused on her thesis this year. Lucky for her she won the International Princess Woman title and scholarship to pay for her tuition this year.
Gavin was born to unwed parents. Although they never married, and eventually married other people, he was raised in love, by everyone. He was an only child to Patrick and Kenny, but he has several half siblings on both sides. He is a hockey player who had to promise his moms to protect his teeth. He and Maverick Bradford played together in Atlanta, and with his recent trade, are now playing together again in Los Angeles.
Gavin and Haddy met years ago at University of North Carolina, where he was dating her roommate. Things happened between Gavin and Karen and Haddy sided with her roommate.
When Gavin’s living arrangements fall through while he is en route to Los Angeles, Maverick offers him the extra bedroom at the house he shares with two of his cousins. Gavin and Haddy are both in for a shock when they lay eyes on each other.
Mav tries to play peacemaker and explain to Haddy that Gav is not like what Karen has told her. She is cordial, but not friendly or outgoing with him. But everything will come to a head on Halloween.
All bets are off when Haddy finds herself with an eyeful of her roommate. The night is wild and these two enjoy a night of letting go.
But when asked the most important question, at the time, Haddy cannot answer it the way Gavin needs and it puts a wedge in their relationship. Until she can truly believe and trust him, he does not see them having the kind of relationship he ultimately wants with her.
But when the truth comes out, Haddy finally realizes the depth of her love for Gavin. He has done everything to prove to her she can trust him. So she decides to show him the depths of her love for him. And what a grand gesture it is. But will it cost her everything she has worked so hard for?
Impressions
As the first book in this new series, it did not disappoint. This was such an emotional read. The lies, the anger, the secrets, the love, the trust, the grand gestures. The tears, the smiles, the laughter. The family, the friends. All of it in one single book.
Let me just say, I cannot stand Karen, Haddy’s college roommate. She gives women a bad name. And how did she know so fast about Haddy losing her crown and title? Something is off with that girl and she needs a come to Jesus moment.
Gavin is her Knight in shining armor. He is there for her. He picks her up when she falls, literally and figuratively. He supports her and takes interest in her thesis. He supports her work, her choices and her. He is a dream guy waiting on his princess to realize it.
