About Only For Tonight
Jaxon is a professional hockey player based in Los Angeles. He is home, in Dallas, for a family event. It is here that he sees her for the first time in years. Jaxon and Ariella grew up together, until he left for hockey. She is all grown up now and he is enjoying spending time with her.
Ariella is home, in Dallas, for a family event. One night only. Then she goes back to New York. When she sees Jaxon at the event, she is surprised. She has not seen him since she was 18 years old. She has grown up over the last few years, and so has he. They spend the evening together, talking. They are enjoying their time together so much, they do not want it to end.
When the night is over, and morning comes, Jaxon goes back to Los Angeles, and Ariella goes back to New York. Just one night. Their little secret.
But what happens in Dallas does not stay in Dallas.
Two little pink lines sends Ariella to Los Angeles. When she shows up to Jaxon’s home, she never expected to see what was upstairs. Instead of talking to him as planned, she leaves.
After taking some time to ground herself, she makes plans with Jaxon. She has to tell him. He is shocked to say the least, but being the person he is, and the fact he has a thing for Ariella, he has her check out of the hotel and stay at his house.
There are some trials headed their way, both physically and emotionally. They will have to field several curve balls they never expected. Will they be able to weather these storms as a couple or will they go their separate ways?
Impressions
This book brought out some strong emotions in me. Fear for these two during one of their storms. Anger towards the one who did them wrong. But most of all, pure wonder at how these two stuck it out. They never, ever let go of each other. Yes there were some bone headed moves in this story, but when men are involved, that is what you get.
Seeing the support system in place for Ariella and Jaxon was beautiful. Their parents flew in whenever they could. They would Facetime each other. Jaxon’s teammates and their significant others. Her cousin Zoe.
Narration
Connor Crais and Savannah Peachwood are lovely narrators independently, but these two brought this story to life. I lost myself in this story because of the narration.
