Nine Month Contract is a spinoff from the Wait With Me series where Max and Cozy find their happily ever after in Last On the List.
Wyatt is the oldest of the three Fletcher brothers who live on Fletcher mountain. As a matter of fact, he bought the land on his own, but has allowed his brothers, Calder and Luke, to move to the mountain and build homes up there.
After losing his father unexpectedly, Wyatt has been contemplating life and family. After a failed relationship he has come to the conclusion he wants to be a father, but with a surrogate. He is not getting any younger so he applies to a fertility clinic to get the process started. But the clinic is unable to match him with a suitable baby momma.
Trista needs to make some quick cash or lose her home. She decides she can become a surrogate as that pays really well and up front. But none of the clinics will accept her. She is a curvy girl and they say she is not healthy enough to be a surrogate.
When she runs in to a young girl outside of the last clinic, she chat for a few minutes. This girl gives her a phone number to call. Who is this mystery person?
Trista does not have a choice so she calls the phone number. She makes an appointment to meet the man who needs her services and is willing to pay. She and Wyatt make quite the pair trying to have a baby making discussion at the local bar and grill. Everyone in town is nosy and wants to know who this new person is and why she is meeting with Wyatt.
After talking with her, Wyatt decides that Trista is the perfect surrogate for him. Since he is providing an apartment for her, she is able to move out of her apartment to save some money. But Wyatt has no idea what he is in for.
Wyatt has a pet goat. But when Trista moves in she brings her pot bellied pig with her. Surprisingly, both animals seem to get along. Trista is an animal lover. So much so that she works for a rescue and shelter for a pittance. And she takes in every stray she can. But just wait to see the menagerie of animals that start appearing in Wyatt’s barn.
Since they are not able to use a fertility clinic, these two must improvise for the insemination process. And what happens over the next few days will cause you to completely laugh out loud.
When Trista finds out she is pregnant, she is excited to tell Wyatt, but knows things will change now. And yes, things will change. Just not the way she expects.
Trista suffers from bad morning sickness and Wyatt finds her one morning in her apartment. He is so worried that he takes her to the doctor. After this, Wyatt makes every attempt to take care of her. Little things like feeding her pig when she needed to take care of herself. Dropping off breakfast so she would eat something on her way to work since she was always running late. Making sure her car is in working order to safely get up and down the mountain everyday.
Throughout the pregnancy, Wyatt and Trista grow closer. In addition, they gain more animals in the barn that you can’t help but fall in love with. These two are falling in love with each other, but are afraid that once the baby is born they will end up going their separate ways.
Impressions
It has been too long since we have had a book by Amy Daws. I thoroughly enjoyed watching these two as they got pregnant, become friendly (he is a grumpy mountain man), and finally fall in love. But the animals are the best part of this family. Well, that and his brothers trying to make Wyatt jealous. They pulled out all of the stops checking on Trista and hugging her and all. True brotherly love at its finest. I can’t wait for Calder and Luke to get their stories.
