My Favorite Holidate begins with a bang and it never lets up until the final fireworks show.
Wilder, known to family as wild child (I so love this since he represents everything anti wild child), is a self made billionaire. He owns the Renegades football team in San Francisco, as well as many other businesses. He appears very buttoned up to people, but when he is with his daughter, Mac, he is open and has fun. Such a dichotomy in this character.
Fable is a marketing whiz, especially in the team apparel for the Renegades. She is very outgoing, enthusiastic and creative. Complete opposite to Wilder.
When circumstances beyond their control deem it necessary to be in a situationship for the holidays, they turn to each other to fill the roles.
They are stiff and formal around each other and no one will believe they are a couple. But Fable is on a mission to loosen Wilder up. After several group events, they are starting to fall in to their roles as fake girlfriend / fake boyfriend.
But things escalate when they get to Evergreen Falls. Rooms are reassigned. The competition events schedule has been rearranged and now starts earlier than planned. All of Wilder’s carefully scheduled plans have been thrown to the wind.
But with Fable’s grounding, Wilder is able to deal with the changes in everything.
As the games begin, there is stiff competition between Wilder and Fable and Brady and the caterer. So much so, that Brady takes it personally while Fable, Wilder and Mac have fun. Especially at the snowball fight. I laughed so hard at that spectacle.
I think the scene that really affected me the most was when Fable and Wilder were wrapping donations of presents for kids. He bought so many presents, they ended up missing the final event in the games, but neither of them cared. It really brought home the true meaning of Christmas. It is not about the gifts you receive or being the best at something. It is about the giving. It is about making a child’s dream come true.
Narration
This is a full cast narration. Jason Clarke plays Wilder, and what a great choice. Samantha Brentmoor plays Fable and again another great choice. These two play so well off of each other. But throw in all of the other narrators and it was pure delight for my ears.
