About Make the Play
Knox is the quarterback of the Nashville Rampage. He is also called QB1 as he is the top ranking quarterback in the league. He has a very close knit family that supports him completely and unquestionably. He has a core group of team members that are there for each other no matter what, including his best friend, Landry Reynolds.
Corie has just graduated from college and has returned home to Nashville. Except she does not feel like it is her home. It is her brother’s home. Her brother, Landry, is so excited to have her home and includes her in all of his get togethers with the guys. Pool parties, dinner, movies. And he includes her best friend, Sloane.
Corie has had a crush on Knox since she was a teenager. So when she runs in to him, literally, she has tingles, but she knows that it is just her. He is her brother’s best friend and has never shown signs of liking her as more than a little sister. But she still has a look of want in her eyes.
Corie is off limits. Absolutely off limits. She is his best friend’s little sister. Landry has warned all of the guys on the team that she is off limits. So why is he looking at her and having weird feelings. When she left for university four years ago, she was just a teenager. Now she is a beautiful woman.
No matter how hard he tries to avoid her, Knox and Corie are always together for one reason or another. Parties at Landry’s home, dinner after practice, watching game tape to prepare for the season, and picking up food for breakfast after a humdinger of a party.
Spending so much time with her or around her is making it very difficult to keep her in the off limits category. Knox finds reasons to touch Corie. Little touches such as placing his hand on her lower back when he is walking her somewhere.
Corie knows she should avoid Knox. He is her brother’s best friend. She knows that Landry has warned the team that she is off limits. But this is Knox. She has been in love with him for years. It is not just a crush. And spending so much time together is messing with her system.
Corie has spent the summer trying to find a job close to home, but has not had any luck. Until one day, when Landry calls her and tells her of a job opening with the Rampage. When she tells Knox about it, he calls the HR manager and sets up an interview for Corie. She cannot believe he just did that, but she is so thankful.
When Corie is offered the job with the Rampage she is so excited that she jumps in to Knox’s arms in the stadium parking lot. She thanks him profusely and then kisses him. She cannot believe she just did that. They now work together. She cannot be doing this. Especially out in the middle of the parking lot where anyone and everyone can see. What was she thinking?
When a mutual acquaintance from their pasts overhears a private conversation, it becomes the catalyst for a smear campaign. But the team management supports them and their relationship. And they really do not like this particular acquaintance. But instead of waiting for the team to make a statement, this couple takes things in to their own hands. And man what a great way to turn the tables.
Impressions
Kaylee Ryan is a new to me author, but I have been checking out her books lately. I am always looking for new authors to read and I am really glad I read this book. I love Knox and Corie and cannot wait for the other books to come out. Since she previously wrote Knox’s dads book, I will buying and reading that one while I wait for the next one in this series.
Knox has such a great family and it is something that everyone needs. Corie, Landry and the rest of the guys they hang out with. Everyone is always welcome and I love that about them. They are open and loving to anyone and everyone. And it is such a huge family, some by blood, some not.
I had to laugh at Landry. I cannot wait until he finds his person. He is going to fall so dang hard. And personally I am hoping it is Sloane. But we shall see.
