About King

Willa is a former ice skater, who is now a doctor. She goes to her niece, Izzy’s, hockey practice to support her. When the coach walks out, the parents are faced with a decision: someone mans up and becomes the new coach or the team is disbanded.

Willa is lovingly coerced by her sister to take over the coach position. But she knows nothing about hockey. Unfortunately, she runs in to one dad who is constantly calling out commands and criticism to his son on the team. Yep, you guessed it. There is a confrontation. He did not want to coach the team, but he wants to ride his son to do better and be better.

King watches this confrontation. He confronts the dad and they have a conversation. He manages to diffuse the dad and ends up helping to coach the pee wee team. Lucky Willa.

Willa was previously married and it was not a good relationship. Unfortunately, she still works with her ex-husband. Not an ideal situation, but they manage.

Willa has some hang ups about seeing, let alone being in a relationship with, King.

One is her past. The tumultuous relationship her parents had. Her marriage to Scott and his cheating. Her sister’s relationship with her ex. She is not ready to trust another man and find herself in a similar situation.

Second is their age difference. He is 25 and she is 33. She is worried how it would look. She is worried about the fact he has only had one previous long term girlfriend. She does not think he is ready for a relationship.

King by Sawyer Bennett Teaser about Age Gap

King was in a previous relationship until Emily no longer wanted to be. He tried to understand, but it was not meant to be. Until she reenters his life, under a guise.

Emily realizes she made a mistake and now wants Jack (aka King) back. She calls him. She texts him. And she even shows up to his hotel in Chicago when he is there for a game. She is using a family illness to gain more time with him and his sympathy.

King does not see what Emily is up to. He thinks they are just friends. But when she shows up unannounced, he knows he needs to do something. Unfortunately, Willa’s fears are triggered and she walks out.

Will King be able to convince Willa he is not cheating on her? And what about her issue with their age difference? And what about her ex and his comments that King is a player and cheating on her when he is on the road?

Narration

This is my second Erin Mallon book in a row. I went a long time without listening to her and I forgot how much I enjoy her voice. Although not new to me, I do not listen to a lot of Robert Hatchett. I found his voice smooth and very easy to listen. to. I think you will also enjoy him.
