Icebreaker is book 1 in the Gamebreakers series and what a way to start the series off.
Banks is a professional hockey player for the So Cal Vipers. He was traded to them the previous season for his scoring ability. However, last season he did not score up to his potential, in his eyes. And so far this season, he has yet to score.
Because of his performance on the ice, he has been going in for extra practices early in the mornings.
Aspen works at the arena where the Vipers play. She works with a team that cleans it after any event. It is a very demanding job physically. But her “boss” makes it a demanding job mentally with her games.
Their first run in happens as Aspen is leaving the arena and Banks is trying to get in, but he forgot his key card. Rabid raccoon makes its first appearance.
Their second meet up happens at The Sapphire Club, where Aspen is working as a bartender. What she does not know, is that the group of men in the back are the owners of the club. Bets are made between the men about Banks being able to score that night. Aspen wants nothing to do with it.
Their third meet up happens again at the arena as Aspen is leaving and Banks is coming in for an extra training session. She sneaks in to the stands to watch him. He sees her and is elated.
Throughout this book, so many things happen. A broken down car. Two managers terminated. A father showing up out of nowhere. Surprises abound and reactions are unexpected.
Throughout the book, we get glimpses of the four men and their history. Each has a story to tell and I am hoping we will find out more in each of the future books in this series. In addition is the missing man. And let us now forget about Briar and Frankie. And Mrs. X is a hoot. She is the best grandma a girl could ever ask for.
