About Hit Me With Your Best Shot
Austin is a Super Fan of the local professional hockey team. She has season tickets she inherited from her dad and she goes to every home game, except one. After doing a good deed for her friend, she finds herself at the local sports bar watching the game and lamenting the performance of her team.
In addition to inheriting the hockey season tickets from her dad, she also inherited his dog, Gio. Named after the hockey team’s goalie.
Gio Montagalo is the goalie for the local professional hockey team. He has been having a few bad games and needs to get back in the zone.
When his sister, Nova, tells him about this woman at the local sports bar roasting him during the game, it piques his interest. So much so, he goes to the bar to see if she is there. When she walks in to pick up her take out order they start talking. Next thing we know, he is texting her his special tickets to the next game.
After a back and forth text exchange, game day has finally arrived. When he skates over to her and follows through on his piece of the dare, she is shocked. She had no idea.
The next few weeks are fun times for these two as they get to know each other better. Of course there are some unexpected visitors. But when the big surprise is revealed, how will they deal with it? It is life changing for both of them.
So many things happen in such a short amount of time. What will become of these two? Will it affect their individual relationships with Nova? And what about canine Gio? How does he feel about all of these changes?

I love seeing a smart, professional woman who is snarky and speaks her mind. Not rudely. It is a game and she is a Super Fan. She just speaks the truth.
I love that Gio is vulnerable about not being good enough for Austin. She is a professor and he is just a hockey player. It does not matter that he makes millions. She has a career that will last forever, whereas his will only last for so long. He will either get too old or, god forbid, get an injury than ends his career. Then what will he do?
These two balance each other in so many ways. They ground each other in real life, while also riding the high of a new relationship.
