Harper is the second book in The Stewarts of Skagway series and follows Harper Stewart, the oldest daughter and second oldest child in the family.
About Harper
Harper Stewart and Joe Raven are childhood friends turned sweethearts. They gave each other their virginity on graduation night. But she was not ready to fully commit to Joe at such a young age.
Joe Raven was ready to go to college, get married and have babies with Harper. He had their lives all planned out. But he did not plan on her not wanting to come back to Skagway after college and instead her wanting to spend a few years traveling after college.
In their senior year of college, Harper breaks Joe’s heart. She disappears for a semester “abroad” and then goes on to travel for the next five years as she had planned. But when she returns, she can no longer look at Joe and avoids him at all costs.
After ten years of estrangement, the ice starts to thaw. Well kind of. When she wakes up in Joe’s bed one morning, and is unable to remember what happened or how she got there, he tells her if she wants to know then she has to come back.
Joe has no idea what happened years ago or why Harper has avoided him for the past ten years. So he is using every tool in his arsenal to spend time with her again. He is still in love with her. She is still in love with him. But is love enough to get them through the storm that is about to come?
They are finally rekindling their love, when history repeats itself. At least for Harper. Joe has no clue the bomb she is about to drop in his lap. What will his reaction be? Explosive to say the least.
When she drops the same bomb in her family’s lap, what will their reaction be? Disappointment? Distrust? Shock? Will they avoid her? Or will they rally around her?
Harper will have her hands full over the next few weeks and months. But will Joe and her family be there for her? Or will she be on her own again?
Impressions
I will admit I was not fond of Harper on multiple occasions. However, when it came to the toughest decision of her life, she took some time to think about it. I do believe she made the right decision, but I disagree with her keeping it a secret.
