About Faking Cinderella

Margot was born the oldest daughter to her parents. She is assumed to inherit the Aurora Gardens Hotel chain when her father retires. She is the type of executive you always wished you had. Someone who listens to their employees and acts on what they say. However, she is on a mission and only time will tell if she is successful.

Rhys is the only child born to his mother. She and his grandfather built a private security company from the ground up. Rhys went in to the marines out of high school and served with his best friend, Decker. When she married his stepfather, he also gained two stepbrothers. One of which did him dirty. Top that off with his stepfather setting him up on a job, and he no longer has any family.

When Margot shows up in Colorado, she is there to put a plan in to motion. But this plan involves people who have secrets. They are good people, but they know something that they are keeping close to the vest. They think they know who she is, but what they know barely scratches the surface.

Margot is there to do some recon work. She wants to get to know these people. Her mission will involve them, but she does not want them to become collateral damage.

Rhys has been sent to scope out the situation with Margot. Decker, one of the people she is getting to know, has asked Rhys to find out if he can trust her.

When Rhys arrives at the cabin where Margot is planning to stay, she has beat him there. Since she is a single woman, staying in a secluded cabin, she rigs up a security system. So when he walks in to the cabin late at night, he sets off the handmade system. And this is how Margot and Rhys meet each other.

There is a mutual dislike and distrust between these two.

Everyone around town knows Rhys. He visits Decker periodically so his presence is no surprise. But no one knows Margot. This is a small town with a super tight community. Everyone knows everyone. So how Margot is able to keep her secrets is surprising.

Once Rhys figures out how he knows Margot, and what her true intent is with his friends, he goes out of his way to cover for her. Little mishaps that she needs to clean up at the resort she is working at in order to avoid being seen by a mutual acquaintance.

But when the truth comes out about who Margot is, the fireworks will give the Fourth of July a run for the money.

Margot now has to completely revamp her plan. But it will surprise you who provides a new plan.

Will Margot succeed in her ultimate mission? Will Rhys get justice for the past? Will these two reconnect? Or was it just a simple fling to be forgotten?

Impressions

The best part of this book was the homemade security system that Margot implemented. I laughed so hard at the repercussions. Poor Rhys. Will he ever recover from simply walking in the door to the cabin?

I loved seeing Daphne and Oliver again in this story. I had to laugh at the road trip to the city. I do not know what happened previously, but when everyone tells her no and works double time to get her out of the city, it makes a girl wonder.

The one thing I was disappointed in was not getting to know more about the triplets. I felt like they were just there. Yes there were some outings with them, but I thought they would be more prominent. With that being said, it gives me hope that they will get their own series in the future. They each have a story to tell and I am hoping to someday enjoy their shenanigans.

Narration

I cannot remember the last time I listened to Maxine Mitchell. It seems like I have been missing out on her fabulous voice. Her serious Margot and her fun loving Daphne. Plus her protective townspeople. I do not seem to listen to Ryan West that often, so I truly enjoyed him as Rhys. He has that gruffness, plus a softer side. And let us not forget the fun loving persona he used for Lucky.
