Dex is a professional football quarterback. He is also an overgrown child. He is not close to his family, but considers his friends his family. His best friend, Landon, found love and Dex wants what Landon has found. Someone who loves him for who he is and not for his job or celebrity.
Margot is a single mom who co-parents with her daughter’s father. She is feisty and sassy. She is tired of her mom and dad trying to fix her up with their friends’ children so she has decided to enter the dating world.
These two meet on the Kissmet dating app when Margot believes Dex is not who he says he is and lambastes him for misleading women. This is such a funny opening scene between these two. But when their worlds collide shortly after in a restaurant, of all places, snark will fly.
Margot is very protective of her daughter. So when she catches her nemesis and daughter conspiring she is thrown. How does she handle this situation?
Dex does not want to date single mothers. He is too young to want to be a father. But after meeting Margot and her daughter, Wyatt, he is rethinking this decision. Wyatt is cool and he enjoys spending time with her. Plus Margot makes him want more than just a few nights.
But when his agent gets wind of him dating a single mother who just happens to be a school teacher, his agent tells him to continue seeing her. She will improve his PR image. As you can guess, he is a football bad boy.
But Dex is starting to really like Margot and spending time with her and Wyatt. So much so, that he does not even consider what his agent told him. Until that fateful night.
After dealing with the press fallout of her and Dex dating, she has to deal with her ex, Wyatt’s dad, being a complete jerk about who she is dating. Then, she overhears Dex’s conversation with his agent and everything she thought she knew implodes.
Can Dex fix this mess? Can Margot ever trust him again? And how will Wyatt fit in to this operation fix this mess?
Impressions
This book opens with a bang. This is a funny read. Watching two people who are confident and outspoken become anxious and more quiet. Watching Dex plan dates that are ten year old approved. And let us not forget his serious sweet tooth that Wyatt enjoys taking advantage of. Can we say ice cream anyone?
Meeting the parents was a trip. I do not think Dex has ever met the parents of anyone he has ever dated. He is trying so hard to impress Margot’s father, but he is so nervous.
It was a nice surprise to see Landon and his girlfriend fly in to meet Margot and have a game night. However, poor Margot is so nervous to meet Dex’s best friend. But she is put at ease immediately and game night commences. Such a fun night with and exciting announcement at the end.
