About Beautiful Crazy
Everett is an elementary school teacher who has just relocated to Blossom Beach from Seattle after inheriting his grandmother’s house. He has a job teaching fifth grade at the local school in just a few weeks, when school starts.
Gemma is Everett’s next door neighbor. She is a single mother to a young boy, Sutton. Her entire family lives in Blossom Beach, or nearby. The family dynamics are supportive and hysterical. In addition, this allows Sutton to have his cousins close by to play sports with or just hang out with.
Sutton’s father was killed when he was just a toddler. So when Everett moves in next door, he now has someone to help him learn to play baseball better. As he says, he is not very good. Everett agrees to help him and starts playing catch with him after he gets his new mitt. Then they go to the batting cages. Next thing you know, Everett is at his baseball games cheering him on.
Everett’s attention and willingness to help Sutton endears him to Gemma. They become friends. But when Gemma gets sick and Sutton goes over to Everett’s to get his help, the relationship changes. While she is recovering, someone is always at her house, usually Everett. He also begins taking Sutton to school since he is going there anyways.
Gemma has such a different relationship with her family than Everett does with his. It is interesting to watch him interact with her sisters and brother, especially since he is an only child.
When he gets a phone call about an emergency, he tells Gemma what is going on and then heads out to deal with it. But after a conversation, he returns home, knowing that Blossom Beach truly is home.
When Gemma gets the surprise of her life, she turns to her sister first. After talking with her about all of the possibilities, she returns home to discuss it with Everett. He is overjoyed with the news.
Impressions
I loved seeing how Everett interacted with Sutton as a male role model and not a replacement father. Ir allowed Sutton to be able to come to him when there was a problem.
I also loved seeing how Gemma always put Sutton first. She wants to protect him from heartbreak . She wants him to enjoy activities he is involved in. So if that means he needs Everett’s help, then she will allow it.
Gemma and Everett handled everything related to their relationship in such a discreet manner, it was refreshing.
Narration
I freaking loved Connor Crais as Everett. He was a perfect Everett to me. He completely embodied what he stood for, his emotions and his demeanor. Samantha Brentmoor was a perfect Gemma, plus her sisters. The southern accent. The girl next door. The fear of getting involved again. Another premiere performance by her.
