Fake It Til Fall is book 2 in the Faking the Holidays series and follows feuding family members Forrest Wolfcraft and Daisy Thorne.

About Fake It Til Fall
Daisy left her family home when her fiance cheated on her. No one fought for her. They just let her leave. She tells everyone she is fine when she is absolutely not fine. She moved to Boston and now works two jobs in order to pay her bills. But she lacks food and sleep trying to stay afloat.
Forrest retired from playing hockey and lives in Boston. He never wanted to go home until a coaching job opened up at the high school. But his on e indiscretion may cost him this job. He has been watching Daisy work herself to death and received a tip that she does not eat. So he starts showing up at her second job, a bookstore coffee shop, with a sandwich for her and his rescue pup, Puck.
Daisy’s mother calls her to help with her ex’s wedding. The bride and mother of the bride are freaking out about details that only Daisy can handle. She does not want to do this, but her mom lays a guilt trip on her that the vineyard needs the money. So she agrees, as long as she can do it from Boston.
But nothing in a wedding ever goes smoothly so Daisy is going to be forced to return to the scene of her embarrassment. But add in the fact that her mother has also booked a hockey event for the high school for the same time period and needs her to also organize that project and Daisy is beyond exasperated.
Forrest is there, watching everything, while dealing with his manager and the fallout of what happened in the past. His manager tells him he needs a girlfriend for the hockey dinner. Then he proceeds to put out feelers, not giving Forrest time to decide who he can ask. He needs a fake girlfriend stat and his agent has now tied him to woman he has been watching and feeding. And a sworn Wolfcraft enemy.
Before Forrest can say anything to Daisy, she is asking him to be her fake boyfriend for the wedding. She wants to go back home looking successful and not embarrassed. She wants to show them she is thriving and does not need her ex. He agrees, because he needs her help too. Rules are established for this fake relationship. And a partnership is made.
Until circumstances cause them to break the rules.
Will what happens at the vineyard, stay at the vineyard? Will this breaking of rules show both Forrest and Daisy what they really want to do with their lives?
Impressions
Daisy is a trooper. She did not leave embarrassed that her ex cheated on her. She left because not one person stood up for her and supported her when it happened. Everyone takes advantage of her and she just agrees to keep the peace. But she needs to learn to say no. And she really needs to have a conversation with her mother about boundaries.
When the story comes out about Forrest’s indiscretion, people would understand why it happened. But he has been protecting someone and in the process making it harder to be respected. He needs to finally open up and tell his story. What he did, should have been done, period. He should have been protected by the ones who would have lost the most. But instead, it was brushed under the carpet and he was punished for doing something heroic.
I cannot wait until the next book in this series. I see lots of steam coming in it. And maybe some snarky banter.
Narration
Ryan Lee Dunlap was a great Forrest. Gruff and growly and grumpy. Stephanie Nemeth Parker was a joy as Daisy. The high pitched everything is fine. The love for rescue pup, Puck. Two incredible performances.
