About Falling For You

Theo is the cousin of Caleb, who we met in Forgotten Dreams. He comes from a blended family. He has two older sisters from his mother’s previous marriage and an older brother. Yes he is the baby of the family, and the last to get in to a committed relationship. One bad experience caused him to not want forever with anyone.

Collins is an only child and was raised in Montgavin. Her parents are unconventional and have left a stigma in the town. She has worked hard to become a paramedic, even though she wanted to be a nurse. She is well respected by her co-workers, but whenever she goes into town, she sees everyone staring at her. Her parents’ reputation has always caused her discomfort so she stays to herself mostly.

After leaving work one night, Collins gets a flat tire on her way home. Lucky for her, someone is driving by. Surprising since it is the middle of the night. He pulls over, and after an exchange of words, she finally lets him change her tire. After one glorious night together, she wakes to find him gone. Oh well.

Theo is a love em and leave em kind of guy. So when he sneaks out of Collins’ home after a night to remember, he figures he will never see her again. But fate is not on his side.

When Theo returns to Montgavin, after helping his sister with a project, he experiences things he never expected to. First, Sierra is shot. Second, the paramedic who treats her is his one night stand from several weeks ago. Oh boy.

Theo decides he wants to ask Collins out on a date. This is not normal for him, but she is different. She tells them she wants to talk to him. They meet and boy does he get the surprise of his life.

But Theo is all in. He takes care of Collins. Makes her food for her shift. Cooks her dinner when she gets off work, in the middle of the night. He is taking this seriously.

But when things start happening on the jobsites, and then at Collins’ home, Theo and Caleb will need to take matters into their own hands. A small theft at a jobsite of a speaker and nail gun can be overlooked. But when it continues to happen and escalate, the company may need to file a police report. But when the electric lines are cut at the meter at Collins’ home, Theo is done. Things have escalated too far.

But who is at fault here? Theo believes it is a woman who he had a one night stand with that now wants more from him. Collins believes it is her parents. But neither have spoken to the other about what is going on and their suspicions. They are trying to protect the other, but instead danger is coming.

Can these two finally communicate with each other about their suspicions? Will they determine who the culprit is? What price will they have to pay in order to be together and keep everyone safe?

Collins’ story breaks my heart. She was dealt a crummy card, given parents that should never have been allowed to procreate, and now this. Her parents treat her like she owes them for everything. They are the worst of the worst and should never have been allowed to roam this earth.

Theo is such a loving and giving person. The way he takes care of Collins is what she should have had her whole life. She thinks he is too good for her and she wants to protect him from her parents. But until she is willing to stand up to them, she will never be free of them. He knows that, and so does she.

Collins has had to work her booty off to get where she is in life and everything she has, which is not much. Theo has worked hard, but because of his loving family he has not had to fight tooth and nail for everything, like she has.

I was left with one question at the end of this book: does Collins continue being a paramedic, or does she finally get to go to nursing school?

Samantha Brentmoor continues to prove why she is my favorite female narrator. I loved her voicing Collins. Teddy Hamilton has been in my ears so much lately. I love hearing him voice Theo, along with all of the supporting characters.
