About Caught In a Storm
Mila is one of four Storm sisters. When they were young, they lost their parents in a terrible car accident. As a child, she used to be a chatterbox. But after an incident, she stopped chattering. Mila has taken on the roll of Inn Manager, cook, and anything else that needs to be done around the farm.
Boone is a single dad to a twelve year old girl. He married young and divorced when his daughter was two. He has been working as an Assistant Vineyard Manager for years, with no hope of advancement due to it being a family run establishment. His daughter has gotten in with a bad influence where they currently live. So when he is offered the Vineyard Manager position at Stormy Weather Farm, he is excited and hopeful.
When Boone arrives at Stormy Weather, he saves Mila from a terrible fall. There is instant attraction, but he is not ready to get involved with anyone. Especially someone as young as she is and a Storm to boot.
But fate has different ideas.
These two keep getting thrown together. From cooking lessons to needing an understanding ear, Mila is involved with both Boone and his daughter. Even if he is fighting it.
Based on what happened with his marriage, Boone believes he is at fault. He believes his desires are unnatural and too much for most women. He has not dated since his divorce. First, because he was too tired, working all day and raising his daughter. Then he did not want his daughter to get attached to anyone unless he was serious about them.
But Mila is different. They surreptitiously continue seeing each other. What they do not know is that everyone is aware of their relationship and are keeping quiet about it. Giving them the space to figure things out.
But when Boone’s past shows up in the flesh and confronts Mila, what will be the fallout? Will she back off and give him space? Does he want to revisit the past? And how will this affect his daughter?
Impressions
Wow. There is a 13 year age gap between Boone and Mila. And his daughter is 12. Is Mila really ready to become a mom at such a young age to a preteen? Everyone knows the age gap between them can be overcome, since Levi and Cassie have the exact same issue and have managed to make things work. But throw in a child, and a jealous and flaky ex-wife, and things are bound to not run smoothly all of the time.
Mila is an old soul. She still has regrets about things that happened when she was younger. She is also a people pleaser. She has taken on so many responsibilities at the farm that she is running on fumes. Something has to give, but she is afraid that the tasks will fall to her aging aunt and uncle.
Mila has dreams. She has always wanted to start a catering business but she just does not have time. So when Boone finally enlightens her family about it they are surprised. She never speaks about her dreams. She just goes about business as normal. With the new Event Barn moving forward and gaining momentum, they are now in need of a caterer. This is Mila’s chance. And Boone makes sure she takes it.
Narration
It is always a joy listening to Grace Noble and Jarman Day narrate the Storm family. They work well together and their voices take on so many facets in this series. Here is looking forward to more Storms from these two.
