About Move Me

Hazel Spencer is the cousin to the Spencer-King siblings. Her father, Owen is doing time in prison for stealing from the cousins. It was Hazel who found the evidence to put him away, and she is the one who turned him in.

Luke is a transplant to Cherry Blossom Lake. He originally started in the Juniper Ridge series, set in central Oregon. He jumped at the chance to move to the coastal town to start a new life. He had done time in prison previously and just needed a new start where people did not know what happened and did not judge him instantly. He is also the brother to the Juniper Ridge sheriff, Amy Lovelin-Judson. She has been his biggest supporter and with her husband, Cooper’s, help, Luke was able to relocate, get a respectable job and make a new life.

When Hazel spots Luke in front of the gate to her home, bent over and working on it, she assumes he ran into it. She assumes the worst of him, but he is not having that. He politely informs her who ran into the gate and how it happened. After fixing the problem, she invites him in to wash up, since he is muddy from the rain mixing with the dirt. Let the fireworks begin.

Nearly four months later, Hazel is cringing as she reads the test results. And not the first or second set of test results. How could this be? It is not possible, is it?

Keeping things a secret in a small town is downright impossible. Best to meet with Luke and let him know what is going on. But holy cow, could it be any more sterile than the method she uses?

Instead, they come to a compromise. But it is not to Luke’s advantage in any way, shape or form. He is having to pretty much give up everything he has been working on since he was released from prison. But he is not able to tell Hazel about it, due to an ironclad Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA).

So when he violates his agreement with Hazel, Luke must beg for forgiveness and a second chance. Lucky for him, she grants it. But there will not be a third chance.

Meanwhile, Hazel has kept secrets from everyone. Her family and Luke.

When she decides to host family dinner, Hazel is mortified that she forget to plug in the crockpot. Now what is she going to do? Call Luke, of course. Yes he bails her out. And around the dinner table the conversation takes a turn that no one attending ever expected. It is cryptic and thoroughly entertaining to us, the readers, who know what is really going on.

But when Hazel breaks Luke’s heart, it will be her cousin who materializes out of nowhere and explains the circumstances. Then he leaves her with one question for her to think about and answer honestly.

Impressions

Hazel has a hard time trusting people. She has a hard time letting people in. She has recently been reunited with her cousins after years of separation. Separation she caused, but still separation. She is an only child with an absentee mother and her father in prison due to her actions.

So when she hooks up with Luke, an ex-con, she is not able to fully trust him or let him in. Slowly, he breaks down her defenses, but she believes he breaks her trust with some of his actions.

This book contains some hard times, heartbreak, joy, love and pure, unadulterated laughter. My God, that family dinner still makes me laugh out loud just thinking about it.

Enjoy the fun in this book and if you are like me, you need to know more about what Noah Spencer-King is up to. Hopefully we will not have to wait long.
