Only For Love is book 2 in the Only For series and follows Lexi Petrov, one of the cousins of this series, and hockey player, Kirby, as he helps her rebuild her life.
About Only For Love
Lexi is one of three children born to Viktor and Zoe Petrov. Ten years ago, she married a man who her family did not know. To add insult to injury, they eloped, not having any family at the ceremony. However, her family loves her unconditionally, even though they were disappointed with this incident.
Kirby is a hockey player for the LA Champions, and teammate to Jaxon who is family to Lexi. He has a half sister, Kiley, who works for a hospital in their hometown in Arizona. He is a benefactor for the children’s ward, and whenever he is in town, he visits the kids, takes pictures and gives them hockey memorabilia.
When Kirby met Lexi at Ariella’s baby shower, he knew something was wrong. But he had no idea what it was until the off season, when he went home to Arizona for awhile. He runs in to Lexi at the hospital. She is one of the organizers for the Charity Gala, that now includes a bachelor auction. That Kirby will be included in.
Sadly, as the charity gala preparations move forward, we see Lexi struggling with what the expectations that have been placed on her by her husband. Due to his position at the hospital, he expects her to dress and act a certain way, since it is a reflection on him.
Kirby sees and hears things leading up to the gala, but the night of the gala is the final straw. He leaves Lexi with a note that is the turning table for her.
When Lexi calls her dad, she is a shell of the woman her family knew. No questions asked, her mom, dad and uncle Matty get her out of Arizona and the existence she had been living.
Now in LA, Lexi is thriving. She is living with and helping Jaxon and Ariella. She takes care of the baby. She cooks, she cleans. She feels guilty for living with them for free. But she has no idea how much she is actually helping them.
She has been going to therapy to deal with her past and how to move on. She has also hired a divorce attorney, without her family’s knowledge.
But when Trent, Lexi’s husband, makes a divorce settlement, with stipulations, her lawyer is chomping at the bit. It appears she does not have Lexi’s best interest in mind. Just wait until her cousin finds out. And she will.
Impressions
I do not know what really happened to Trent before the divorce settlement meeting, but man did I laugh on the inside. To top it off, watching her cousin go toe to toe with that man was worth the price of a picture show. I should have popped some popcorn for that showdown. Best Ever!!!
I loved seeing all of Lexi’s family accept Kiley as family. She was invited to girls night, get togethers and even the annual family vacation. I am hoping she gets a book in this series with one of the single family men.
Oh, and Viktor is a hoot. After what happened with Lexi’s ex, he is not giving Kirby any leeway. But Zoe is the best and Lexi’s brother is too. They tell him how it is going to be and he has to accept it. But to hear some of the things that Kirby says to them is so heartwarming. He truly loves Lexi and only wants what is best for her.
Narration
Teddy Hamilton plays Kirby to a tee. He plays his love and anger at Lexi’s ex perfectly. Stephanie Rose plays Lexi beautifully. It is really hard to play fear and inadequacy in an audio only rendition, but she does it very well. Then turning it in to strength and confidence.
