When Kings Bend is book 2 in the OSullivans Brides trilogy and continues on from When Kings Rise left off. We follow Diarmuid, Selene, Niamh, Amira and Wolf through tumultuous times as they make their own paths while fighting to keep secrets.

About When Kings Bend
This book opens with Diarmuid trying to find where Amira has gone. Who has taken her? But when he learns the truth he is livid. How dare a Duke take a bride from a King?
Selene and Niamh have been quietly investigating some disappearances of people. What they do not know is that by doing so, they are putting their lives in danger. Diarmuid has received a warning from the Hand, Viktor, that his brides are overstepping and he needs to contain them.
Two major events occur in this book. The first is the dinner and ball. The second is the party on the boat.
During the dinner and ball, Selene and Niamh decide to see if they can find information. But when someone tries to enter the room they are in, they will have to think fast so that they are not found. It would not be good to be found snooping for information. When they return to Diarmuid’s side, a volatile confrontation with Wolf occurs. Viktor allows this to take place in order to determine the hierarchy in the order. But Diarmuid notices something is up with Amira and he releases her to be with Wolf. If he only knew what has happened in the past and what is yet to happen.
At the boat party, Wolf and Diarmuid face off yet again. This time, Diarmuid is trying to save a life and protect the innocent bystanders. They may be cousins, but Wolf and Diarmuid are polar opposites. One chooses to work in the dark while the other tries to protect those that have don no wrong, but have drawn a bad card.
What will the fall out be from this confrontation? Who will walk away and who will not? What will the Hand of the Kings say and do next?
Impressions
Although I am not usually in to dark romances, this trilogy has really piqued my interest. The secrets, the hierarchy, the traditions, the violence and yet the tenderness. The protector and the aggressors.
I do not understand what Viktor’s true role is in this hierarchy. He seems to be calling the shots, while also warning Diarmuid of his brides secret investigation. Yet he was in charge of Diarmuid’s training as a child and young man. So is he good or bad?
Then we have Niamh and Selene. I need to know who will be THE OSullivan Bride. How will their investigation turn out? Who will the true culprit turn out to be or will they continue to run in to smokescreens?
I need book 3 as I need to know what happens next. Yes, this is a cliffhanger, so if you are not fond of these, wait for the last book to come out before you read the first two.
Narration
When Kings Bend is another full cast narration. All four of the narrators have a great Irish accent, so if they are not Irish, they are darn good.
Scott Rose plays Diarmuid and Wolf beautifully. I do not know if it is jealousy or something else, but he brings out the anger, resentment and distrust in both of them. Ava Flynn, Maeve York and Scarlett Rose McCloughan play each of the women, and their related family members so differently, personifying exactly how each of these women bring something different to the table.
The narration of When Kings Bend stood up against the narration of When Kings Rise. I was glad to see that the same narrators were used and hope that When Kings Fall will conclude with them again.
