While Daphne is waiting for Oliver to leave the party, she falls asleep in the backseat of his car. When she awakens, she is shocked to see Oliver driving the car himself. But she also shocks Oliver, causing him to panic. And the chaos has begun.

Impressions

Considering he is the only child of high society parents, Oliver is as down to earth as he possibly can be. He bailed his family out of financial ruin. He ran the company business. He invested in charities on behalf of the company. He turned the family name and reputation around after what his father did to it.

But while doing all of this, he was beyond stressed, did not sleep well and lost his zest for life.

Disappearing was his answer to leaving that life behind. He did not want to be found. He did not want any pull back to the life he just walked away from.

Although Daphne was born in to a high society family, she has not lived a high society life for the past five years. She was known as the family screw up, but she is a remarkable intelligent and caring woman. She has had to learn to be self sufficient. She has had to learn to live on a budget. She has had to learn to do basic chores on her own. And she has learned it was the best thing that could have happened to her.

Daphne is a strong woman. She works for a charity that she loves. And she will do anything to make sure that the funding they need continues. At all costs.

Her strength and chaos is what attracts Oliver to her, even though that is not what either of them is after. Watching them together is like watching oil and water try to mix in the beginning. But as they get to know each other, they gain more respect for the other.

But I feel like there are things we did not get closure on in this story. I do not know what Daphne’s sister is up to, but I really need to know what evil is lurking in her brain. She has a plan and I am dying to see her execute it.

Narration

Jason Clarke is a dream to listen to. I have been on a roll listening to his books and truly enjoying his take on different characters. But I love him as a billionaire. Especially a runaway billionaire. Machenzie Cartwright played Daphne so well. She is funny and chaos, while also being heartfelt and determined.
