About Divorced From Number 38

Gray has been trying to get Courtney to sign divorce papers for some time now. Every time she shows up at his house, it is always the same thing. Seduction. A tryst. Then goodbye. This last time is no different, except that she has finally signed the papers.

Faye is a lone soul. She lost her parents. Then she lost her grandmother. She has no one left. She is living her grandmother’s house, which is next door to Gray’s home. She has a bird’s eye view out her kitchen window into his kitchen, where she sees a super erotic scene between him and his wife.

Later that night, tragedy strikes. Faye is trying to evacuate, but is unable to. Lucky for her, Gray sees what is happening and quickly responds. Sadly, Faye has lost memories and mementos that can never be replaced.

While recuperating from the impact of this tragedy, Faye loses her composure. Lucky for her, Gray is there again to soothe her. But she keeps reminding herself that he is a married man. He is just being nice since he is her neighbor.

But Gray is insistent that Faye stay with him while she is recovering and dealing with all of the red tape of insurance, contractors and paperwork galore. She says it is only for a few days. But the attraction is off the charts.

When his teammates and their wives show up at his home with everything Faye could possibly need, she is shocked. She does not even know these people, but they showed up because Gray asked them to help.

The women take Faye under their wings. And when they find out who she really is, you can hear the squeals of delight throughout the city. But they accept her for her, not for who she is or what she does. And over time, she becomes family to them.

But Courtney keeps rearing her ugly head at the most inappropriate times. Gray feels responsible for everything that went wrong in their marriage and for the person that Courtney has become. And he sis afraid that history will repeat himself. So much so, that he does something supremely beyond comprehension. Not once, but twice.

But when push comes to shove, Gray figures out what he needs to do. Of course, his teammates are on him to fix what he broke. But all it took for him to finally fix his errors is a well timed message. But is it too late?

Impressions

I will admit I am not a fan of Courtney’s. She is a needy and whiny woman who needs to grow a pair. She needs to let go of what was and move on. She is planning a future with someone else and yet she keeps coming back to Gray. Can we say codependent?

Gray needs to learn to say no to Courtney. Not only that, but he needs to find out why she has this hold on him and how to break this destructive behavior. If he does not, then history will just keep repeating itself.

Faye is a resilient and strong woman. She has been through so much heartbreak and tragedy. When will she get a break? When the chips are down, she perseveres, even when she just wants to pull the covers over her head and hide out for awhile. She is the type of woman that all women should strive to be.
