About Ethan
Five years ago Ethan met a young woman at a bar. She was the waitress and he and some of his buddies from Eglin where there blowing off steam. There was instant attraction between these two. While Ethan was at Eglin, he and Paisley dated until they become a couple. Until one fateful day.
Paisley was working at a beach bar in Florida when Ethan and his friends showed up one day. She was young, had just finished school and was looking for full time work as a librarian. The attraction was instantaneous, but she was gun shy. She had not dated much and was still young and naive.
When Ethan is deployed, he asks one of his co-workers to let Paisley know what happened and that he will contact her as soon as he can. He had no idea what this person had planned.
When Trey comes to tell Paisley that Ethan had to leave, he leaves out some crucial details. Not only that, but he gaslights her. Until he gets what he wants. Sadly, Paisley has no idea what Trey is up to. But when she finds herself pregnant, she agrees to marry him.
Five years later, Paisley finds the strength to leave Trey, file for divorce and get a job in Sutton’s Creek as the town librarian. This is her fresh start. She has her aunt to help her with Violet (Vivi). Now she has some friends in the Ghost Ops girls. But when she comes face to face with her past, how will she explain things to the girls and to Violet?
As Paisley learns, it is better to tell Ethan about her ex and his threats. She believes she is safe in Sutton’s Creek, but is anyone really safe? When strange things happen to her, the guys will circle and protect one of their own, even if Ethan is still trying to process everything Paisley has told him.
When history repeats itself, and the girls are all in danger, will they save themselves, or will the guys be able to unravel the clues in time?
Impressions
Ethan and Alex are the last two standing bachelors or the Ghost Ops guys. They all seem to be dropping like flies. But when Ethan learns the truth, another one will bite the dust. That will leave just Alex (Ghost) standing in the single man, not attachments column.
The one scene that resonated with me the most was when Violet asks Mr Ethan if he could be her daddy since her daddy was mean. No child should ever have to ask that question of anyone. They are innocent and should never fear the people who are supposed to love them unconditionally. It broke my heart.
Please note, there are references to domestic abuse in this book. But to watch Paisley finally be able to stand up to Trey was the most beautiful scene ever. You go girl!!!
