Out of Secrets is book 3 in the Twin Dare series and book 7 in the entire Twin series. This book ties up the unanswered questions about the twin experiment by bringing together Enimton Gravestone and Sara Linde.
About Out of Secrets
We met Enimton in Out of Touch when he tried to scare Dylan by running him off the road. He is the son of the wealthy Gravestones, who funneled money to Simmons to conduct his twin experiments. The Gravestones have controlled all aspects of his life since he was a young child. His parents have never shown any love towards him and his brother despises him.
Sara grew up with a single mother who could read people and con them. Until she met Max. Max was the first person to provide a father figure for Sara and give her a feeling of protection and safety. Max gave up his career with the FBI to marry her mother and take care of them. But something got him killed and Sara is on the hunt to find out what and who did it.
Sara knows Enimton’s schedule, so she arranges to meet him at the bookstore he visits. She plays a role in order to gain his trust. By spinning her story she is also getting information from him and learning more about him and his family.
Enimton is intrigued by Sara. He knows nothing about her and yet he opens up to her in vague ways. They are plotting so he throws ideas out there based on his own life history. She is beautiful and appears to like him. Little does he know what is in store for him.
When his life unfurls, he turns to the twins. All of them. He needs their help, even though he does not deserve it, or so he thinks. Together they come up with a plan. But sadly, another monkey wrench will be thrown in to challenge everyone. But together they stand strong against whatever comes at them.
Impressions
So many things I loved about this book. We finally get some answers to questions. But I still have questions.
I love that Enimton changed his name officially to something that has meaning for him. He is no longer plagued with a name with such negative connotations.
Sara was finally able to view her mother through someone else’s eyes and gain a new perspective on why she did things the way she did. Why she made the choices she made. It was an eye opening experience for her.
Zachary is still a little rough around the edges, but he was the only one that just blurted out the truth about Enimton, his name and his family. Sometimes, that is what needs to be done. Being delicate is not always the right answer.
Seeing the full cast of characters, including spouses and parents, brought the story and series full circle. The kitchen adventure/challenge was classic. I hope they continue to do this year after year.
