Hollis and Roman have been best friends for forever. Roman has been a single dad for years and Hollis has been there protecting Peggy, aka Aurora, aka Hammer, alongside Roman. But now Hollis is having feelings for her that he should not be feeling.
Hammer is Roman’s daughter. She has grown up in the hockey world since her dad plays for the Toronto Terror. And so does Hollis, her teenage crush that has never ended. She is in her last year of college and hoping to be hired by the Terror in a marketing position once she graduates. She has been working with Hemi, starting with an internship, and is now organizing the Terror’s big gala as her final project for school.
Hammer is a good girl. She does everything right. Until one day. While cat sitting for Hollis, she learns the hard way that things can change in an instant and she should always ask questions and be more observant.
As time goes on, feelings are evolving. But Hollis refuses to act on them. He is Roman’s best friend. He cannot date Hammer. He should not even be considering it. And the one rule Roman has ever given Hammer is do NOT date a hockey player. Their lives are unpredictable. They are young and dumb. He wants so much more for her. But the heart wants what the heart wants.
When Roman finds out what has been going on right under his nose, his reaction is explosive. He is hurt that neither Hollis nor Hammer spoke to him about their feelings for each other. And how he found out was definitely not the best way.
Will Roman lose his best friend? Will he lose his daughter? How will Hollis respond? How will Hammer deal with the fallout? How will the team dynamic fare? Will there be a winner in this scenario, or will everyone lose something?
Impressions
I have never laughed so hard listening to what happened, and then the follow up follies. It was a comedy of what more could possibly go wrong with this scenario. Throw in the flirting. Then add in the crashed date. All I can say is these two better end up together. Too much water under the bridge to just let it go.
Narration
It has been awhile since I have listened to a Zachary Webber narration. I truly enjoyed listening to him as Hollis. He is smooth, stern and loving. Stella Bloom is a new to me narrator and I loved her as Hammer. She had the young vibe, while also having the mature beyond her years vibe. She had to grow up fast and that is definitely in the narration.
