About Beautiful Mess
Grace was born and raised in Blossom Beach and is now raising her family there with her sisters and their families. While in college, she dated Conway’s son, Cole, until the tides turned and their time had run out. After a night of drinking, she does something young and dumb that she regrets even now, 14 years later.
During the last 14 years, she moved home from college, got married and had 2 kids. She opened a bakery and loves creating deliciously divine baked goods. She loves her job and her kids, but this poor woman could not run on time if her life depended on it. A comedy of errors always seems to prevent her from arriving in a timely manner.
Conway is the father of Grace’s ex-boyfriend. After a helping Grace one drunken night, thinking she and Cole were just having a disagreement. Fourteen years later, he learns what really happened that night and understanding dawns.
When Conway attends the PTA meeting for his daughter’s school, he is hoping to skate by on the volunteering. Because Grace is terminally late, she gets stuck with the planning the school fundraiser for the year, with Conway. Oil meet flame. Watch the sparks ignite.
Because Grace is terminally late, Conway is inevitably waiting for her to show up for their brainstorming and planning meetings. The first time he waits. The second, he leaves. She is furious when she has to go to him for the meeting just because she was thrown a curve ball at the bakery that morning. Things escalate between these two until they simply combust.
For someone who is concerned about what people will think with him seeing a woman young enough to be his daughter, he just cannot help himself. It starts as just one time, but we all know how that goes.
When Cole comes home with his tail between his legs, he thinks he can start things up with Grace again. She tells him she is involved with someone, but it does not faze him. But when the Gods give them an opportunity and they take it, will it be a blessing or a disaster?
Impressions
Cole needs to grow up. He needs to take responsibility for his life choices and his actions. Blaming others and sweeping things under the rug just do not cut it in life.
Conway is the sweetest man around. He does so much for Grace, just quietly. He does not expect praise or kudos. He just wants her happy, and satisfied.
Grace has been burned, not once, but twice. She finds it very hard to trust men. She is happy to hookup, but a relationship is not for her. Life is easier without the complications. But Conway is testing her resolve.
I am so looking forward to more books in this series. One more sister and a brother left to go. And let us not forget about best friend Charlie.
Narration
Alex Kydd was awesome as Conway and Cole. His range is amazing. He is gruff as Conway and young and dumb as Cole. But the stern Conway with Cole was my favorite. He did tough love to perfection. I seem to be on a CJ Bloom binge right now. I am really enjoying listening to her. Her southern accent was lovely to listen to. And her Daddy references were the best.
